History
The Managing
Director, Andy Luffman, has a long history of improving
business performance.
He started
with British Coal in the Operational Research team.
This team was responsible for helping the colliery management
teams improve efficiency in ever more difficult times,
we did the complex stuff that management did not have
the time or expertise to do.
What
is Operational Research?
From here, Andy went to the biggest
IT Services company in Europe, Capgemini,
initially focussing on operational improvement.
During 10
years here, Andy became very experienced on working
on large consulting projects. This enabled to learn
how to run large projects, understand team dynamics,
build effective customer relationships.
He worked
with a number of big name companies.
Marks
and Spencer: helping them understand the cost
of running out of Cheese and Pickle sandwiches amongst
others.
Ford:
helping them get new models to the right place at the
right time.
TDG
Logistics: setting up a new division and making
sure the finance and operational requirements added
up over the next 5 years.
British
Steel: showing the true value of their customers
and helped put together service packages to meet their
needs.
Ministry
of Defence: helping to pick the right package
to run their supply chain.
The birth of Rebecca meant that it
was time to change direction and Andy went to work for
Business
Link in Staffordshire.
Here Andy
worked with over 100 Small and Medium Size Enterprises.
Among the many successes, Andy turned a family business
that was struggling to survive to a rapidly growing
business, more than doubling the workforce in 6 months
with turnover and profit to match.
It was always
his intention to work independently and Scio was born
in March 2004 to achieve this aim. The experience of
working with the blue chip businesses and the £5000
per year turnover businesses gives a unique perspective
and both benefit from the knowledge.
